On this website you will find all the information about the Aerospace System Simulation, Control and Avionics LAB (AE SCA-LAB) of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Make sure to check our recent news, projects, new staff members, etc. Our MissionThe AE Simulation, Control and Avionics LAB targets excellence in its field with its academic staff, graduate and undergraduate students and is located at the top floor of the Aerospace Engineering building in room number 231. The laboratory is 250 square meters, and a home for many interested researchers in all levels and all around the world. NewsA new FP7 Project started: AstroNet-II, The Astrodynamics Network (http://www.ieec.cat/astronet2/portal/content/1/home.htm)
AstroNet-II is a Marie-Curie
Research Training Network on Astrodynamics that that brings together
mathematicians, engineers and astronomers from universities, governmental
agencies and industry. The network continues the training (through research)
activities undertaken under the former Training Network "AstroNet" (2007-10). METU Aerospace Engineering Department, as one of the nodes in the network, will host one Early Stage Researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ozan Tekinalp. The topics that will be covered at METU-Aerospace will be on the modeling and attitude control of flexible spacecraft, formation flying using low thrust propulsion, and space inspection and autonomy. Eligibility criteria:
FP7 Project in Progress: DeOrbit Sail, De Orbiting Satellites Using Solar Sails The Simulation, Control and Avionics LAB is happy to announce a new European Union 7th Framework Program project, "De-Orbiting of Satellites with Solar Sails", has started. Certain work packages of the project will be done in the LAB (start date: March 1, 2011; duration: 22 months). Project Partners: Surrey Space Centre (SSC, United Kingdom), Jet Propulsion Laboratory Caltech (JPL, U.S.A.), German Aerospace Centre (DLR, Germany), EADS Astrium (AST, France), Stellenbosch University (South Africa), University of Patras (Greece) Athena-SPU (ATH, Greece), Middle Eastern Technical University (METU, Turkey), Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL, United Kingdom), ISIS (Netherlands).
